Overview

The goal was to create a refreshed interactive digital experience apt for a well-established landscape architecture and urban design firm. McCobb approached us with a clear objective: to bring their portfolio site into the 21st century. Their existing website no longer reflected the refinement, taste, and quality of their work. It needed to look modern, while working within the constraints of select archival projects that don't have high-resolution imagery.

Our Approach

The new design embraced the concept of open exploration, showcasing McCobb’s vast capabilities in an intuitive and discoverable way. We designed a distinctive brand identity that positions the client as a renowned architecture firm.

Anchored on a modern-minimalist aesthetic, and web development processes that prioritize responsiveness, accessibility, and creativity, we were able to design an experience that effectively combines both function and aesthetic.

Integrating function in an elevated aesthetic

The website’s layout was reimagined to reflect open exploration, presenting McCobb’s projects in an infinite grid. This approach eliminated the need for deep navigation, making content easily discoverable.

We curated a WCAG AAA compliant color palette using neutral tones. This allowed photography to take center stage elevated the visual aesthetic of the site. This approach ensured that the work remained the focal point.

Increasing the contrast in type scale created a bold, impactful statement and enhanced readability. Additionally, motion and microinteractions were integrated to add a layer of sophistication, creating a seamless and engaging user experience.

Building for ease and scalability

We migrated the website to Webflow for flexibility and ease of use. This shift allowed us to easily optimize for web -- adhering to performance, responsiveness, and accessibility standards. Developing on Webflow also allowed us to implement custom solutions to build the infinite canvas experience, and add interesting motion and animation across the site.

By simplifying the backend through  the Webflow CMS, we enabled McCobb’s team to manage and update the site independently, without requiring advanced technical knowledge. This operational efficiency ensures the site remains dynamic and up-to-date.
